Calling all Young Creatives:
Design a website for Hackney’s youth

If you are aged 13-19 and dream of a career in creative media then this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. Point Blank are looking for young people to design and construct an exciting new youth website for Hackney Youth Service. The site will be a hub for entertainment, information and advice, keeping young people in the loop about local events and services. It will also feature an online Remix Machine where users can create their own music and mixes to share with friends.

Over the course of two years Point Blank will be hosting weekly drop-in training sessions at their award-winning music and media college in Hoxton. Tutored by a professional web designer, participants will learn how to design, construct, edit and update the website.They will create and upload content such as music, video, podcasts, news items and articles to ensure that the site is cool, fun and informative – representing the passions and interests of young people in Hackney.

Developing these skills can be favorable nowadays especially with the world wide web playing a key role in almost everything we do. So small thanks to the growth of broadband internet.

Those participants who demonstrate the greatest passion, creativity and motivation will be offered valuable work experience at Point Blank’s busy offices.

There will also be opportunities to take a free accredited media course which will take place during school holidays. Young people involved in the project will be able to choose from Web Design, Web Marketing, Radio Broadcasting, Event Management, Music Production, Film-Making and more.
