Tell us what you do for a living?
Singer/Entertainer
Can you describe what that involves?
Performing and going to the studio, doing interviews and generally being a role model to young people.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love performing and getting a response from the audience. I like geting feedback negative or positive so I can develop as an artist.
Is there anything you do not enjoy?
It's really tiring and it's 24/7! You have to be professional the whole time and always give 100% even when you are having a bad day or feeling a bit low.
Can you describe what a day in your job might be?
I'm up at 7am. I get picked up at 8am and then go to my record label to see what I have planned for the day. I then go to the studio for a couple of hours. I may then have a rehearsal in the afternoon and then perform in the evening.
What hours do you work?
I'm always on call. Constantly working!
How long have you been working in this area?
3 years
Can you tell us how you got to where you are?
I used to attend the local youth club and do all the courses they had on offer. I also went to stage school at Westminster Arts and went to Kids Ahead.
Can you tell us about your education to date?
I have 5 G.C.S.E's and I have a GNVQ in Media Studies from Enfield College.
Have you learnt any new skills whilst doing this job? If yes, please tell us what they are.
Yes I have learnt how to do interviews and be confidant in front of the camera when doing interviews.
Did you come across any problems getting this job?
The industry is very up and down but I have a great manager. It helps if you have a parent who is 100% behind you.
Looking back, would you choose the same job again? If no, what would you choose if you could start again?
Yes, as all experience is an adventure and you just have to run with it and see what happens.
Thinking about your personal experience, what advice would you give to someone hoping to follow a similar career path?
If you love your art and believe in yourself then you should go for it 100% and see what happens. It's sad when people have regrets because they never really tried to see if they could be a singer or whatever they dreamed of. I think you should try and then at least you know you gave it your best shot.
Do you have an aspiration/goal for your future career?
When I get more established I would like to set up other projects for young people to get into the industry.
How will you try and get there?
I need to see first how things go with my career.
How long do you think it will take you?
3/4 years
