Film Festival Coordinator

Can you describe what that involves?

Assessing submissions for the Tribeca Film Festival, Coordinating with filmmakers and production staff.

What do you enjoy about your job?

It allows me to work with exciting new filmmakers and see new ideas develop.

Is there anything you do not enjoy?

It is very high stress especially during the festival itself.

Can you describe what a day in your job might be?

Depends on the time of year, typically either spending a whole day watching films and writing evaluations or working very closely with the filmmakers to make sure everything goes smoothly with the festival.

What hours do you work?

10-6 and 24hrs a day during the festival.

I started as a production intern and worked my way up.

I graduated from University

I have a degree in Film and Television and a diploma in filmmaking and production.

Thinking about your personal experience, what advice would you give to someone hoping to follow a similar career path?

Film is a very difficult industry to break in to, perhaps one of the hardest due to the fact it is also a relatively small world. My advice would be to do an internship to learn the business, work very hard and know what it is you want to do.

Do you have an aspiration/goal for your future career?

I would like to continue directing films.

How will you try and get there?

By continuing to work, making contacts and raising funding.

How long do you think it will take you?

Another few years at the very least.
