Tell us what you do for a living?
I’m a musician and business man
Can you describe what that involves?
I class myself as a musician so my job is to make music. But I’m also a business man; I have my own record label.
What do you enjoy about your job?
The performing side is what I enjoy the most. Seeing a crowd singing all the words to your song; jumping up and down whilst you’re performing is the best part of the job
Is there anything you do not enjoy?
I get recognised a lot in the areas I grew up in, so it can be difficult just to hang out there and do normal things.
Can you describe what a day in your job might be?
No day is the same to be honest. I’ve just finished my new album ‘Back to Bizznizz’, so I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio. When there’s promotion, my day usually involves doing interviews, photo shoots, performances around the country. It gets pretty hectic.
What hours do you work?
There’s no set hours really, like I said my day differs depending what’s going on. Some days can be really long with loads of interviews etc. Then others can be not as busy, with this job no two days are the same.
How much do you earn or what is your salary?
I make a decent living off my wage.
How long have you been working in this area?
Well I’ve been rhyming and writing since I was a young say about 15. I moved into it professionally when I was about 18 when More Fire Crew got a record deal and Oi came out. So for a long time.
Can you tell us how you got to where you are?
Hard work, I think my experiences I had in the industry when I was younger made me take a different perspective. It made me learn what I had to do and how to act to get where I wanna be and just stick to it.
Can you tell us about your education to date?
I left school when I was 16 and went on to college to study engineering. When I got signed for More Fire Crew, I left
Can you tell us about any training you have sought/received?
I studied Business Studies at school which gave me basic business understanding. But I learnt so much about the ups and downs of the industry through my More Fire Crew experience and that gave me the knowledge to get to where I am today
Have you learnt any new skills whilst doing this job? If yes, please tell us what they are.
I’ve learnt a lot of business skills from this job and how the industry works. I’ve got my own record company- Lethal Bizzle Records. I think that is what a lot of people need to learn when they get into this industry. Lean the business behind it and it will help you understand it better and help you in the long run.
Did you come across any problems getting this job?
When More Fire Crew were dropped a lot of people thought that was the end of me and didn’t think that I would come back. I had to do a lot of shows and build up my reputation again and just let people know who I am all over again. Then I came out with POW, did all that on my own and set up my own record label- Lethal Bizzle Records, signed to V2 as well and just came back on top of the game.
Looking back, would you choose the same job again? If no, what would you choose if you could start again?
Of course, this is what I’ve wanted to do since I was young. I get to do what I’ve always wanted to do on a daily basis, so I would definitely choose this job again.
Thinking about your personal experience, what advice would you give to someone hoping to follow a similar career path?
I would say don’t think about signing and getting a record deal, just get with the music. With POW I just wanted to make the music. Make music and create a fan base and when you get o a certain level people will come to you. Focus on music- music is what will give you a career.
Do you have an aspiration/goal for your future career?
For the future I just wanna take everything to the next level, my music, my business, and my artists that I’ve signed and break them through.
How will you try and get there?
Boy, this years I’ve got some big plans. I’m realizing my new album ‘Back To Bizznizz’ through V2 Music. I’ll be doing a national tour of the UK and I’ve got a lot more releases planned for Lethal Bizzle Records which you’ll be hearing about soon. I’m also promoting my music Stateside this year and I’ve got some big shows lined up out there.
How long do you think it will take you?
Breaking through in the music game takes time and you’ve got to have the confidence and persistence to keep going. I’ve set myself goals of where I want to be and I’ll just say that I’m on track right now.
