Tell us what you do for a living?
I’m a singer in the band Big Brovaz
Can you describe what that involves?
This involves me touring around the country and overseas which I love doing as singing is what I was born to do
What do you enjoy about your job?
Well the best thing about the job is going to different countries, meeting new people, and new cultures and doing what I love to do every day- performing.
Is there anything you do not enjoy?
Getting up early, and sometimes not being able to get enough time to ourselves when we are doing promotion.
Can you describe what a day in your job might be?
It differs from day to day really. Some days we may be doing interviews all day and then a performance later on, so there’s a lot of traveling as well, but if we’re recording we can be in the studio a lot
What hours do you work?
In this industry, the hours you work change a lot. Right now we’re in the middle of promotion now so we’re working long hours at the minute.
How much do you earn or what is your salary?
We earn enough from our music but we aint millionaires yet!!
How long have you been working in this area?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember but I’ve been in the industry for about 8 years now
Can you tell us how you got to where you are?
Working very long hours, just being one hundred per cent focused and getting the right support.
Can you tell us about your education to date?
Well, I studied up till I was sixteen and took my GCSE’s
Can you tell us about any training you have sought/received?
Well, the only training I received was voice training and business management
Have you learnt any new skills whilst doing this job? If yes, please tell us what they are.
The key things I learnt was to be a team player, be more professional and not to take things for granted
Did you come across any problems getting this job?
Getting dropped from Sony was hard and a bit of a set back and even though it looked like we had split up we hadn’t. We just took some time out and now we’re back better than ever with a new album and good record label backing us.
Looking back, would you choose the same job again? If no, what would you choose if you could start again?
I would definitely choose the same career as I love being a singer and believe this was the path I am meant taken
Thinking about your personal experience, what advice would you give to someone hoping to follow a similar career path?
Be positive and committed and follow your heart.
Do you have an aspiration/goal for your future career?
To still be performing and making music. Me and Cherise have our own clothing range with fashion boutique Kaiz Boutique; we still want to be doing that.
How will you try and get there?
We have our new album out soon ‘Re-Entry’ through Genetic Records, which will hopefully be massive.
How long do you think it will take you?
Things like this take time, so I really can’t say.
