Tell us what you do for a living?

Can you describe what that involves?

Mainly going to the studio and laying down tracks, writing lyrics and performing. But most of all probably hard work!

What do you enjoy about your job?

Performing is our favourite thing, we get such a buzz when we’re up on stage it’s amazing. When we see everyone going mad for our track we feel like someone else.

Is there anything you do not enjoy?

Working under pressure probably, that can be hard. And the beef that comes with making the kind of music we do as well.

Can you describe what a day in your job might be?

Generally it involves writing lyrics and going to the studio. Blizzard is still at school so he does that but we go to the studio a lot. Right now we are promoting the record so that involves doing interviews and performances etc but its all good.

What hours do you work?

You don’t really have any set hours in this industry. It’s not your typical 9-5.

How much do you earn or what is your salary?

Just enough to get by!

How long have you been working in this area?

We’ve been together as Mayhem for about a year but individually we have been doing stuff for about 5 years.

Can you tell us how you got to where you are?

Hard work and determination!

Can you tell us about your education to date?

Blizzard is still at school cos he is only 13 but Shifty and Slayer have GCSE’s

Can you tell us about any training you have sought/received?

Shifty did a studio course for 9 months

Have you learnt any new skills whilst doing this job? If yes, please tell us what they are.

We’ve learnt more about the business side of things and a lot more about promotion. We’re like sponges and soak up everything around us.

Did you come across any problems getting this job?

Because Manchester is a small scene there has been a lot of beef and clashes but generally we haven’t found it hard.

Looking back, would you choose the same job again? If no, what would you choose if you could start again?

Yes probably, you learn from your mistakes but we’re still new so we haven’t made many yet!

Thinking about your personal experience, what advice would you give to someone hoping to follow a similar career path?

Whatever style of music you have, just do it. Don’t change because people will notice, the real recognise real. Take advice in but don’t let it get to you. Music is an expression of yourself, if your not doing what you’re doing there is no point.

Do you have an aspiration/goal for your future career?

We want to have a lot of people backing our music and have an empire around us.

How will you try and get there?

Do what we are doing now but step it up. More interviews, videos, tunes etc. And we will be interactive with the fans as that is really important.

How long do you think it will take you?

3-7 years although you never know in this business.
